Fishing with Andy & Janey |

I think it's fair to say Andy was a bit surprised when I told him he could take me to Canada fishing - for our honeymoon.
But of all the wonderful things about (finally) getting married - and there are/were so many - surely our fishing trip was one of my BEST ideas.
After a uneventful and scenic three-day drive - we arrived at Snake Falls Camp right at check-in time Saturday afternoon. We settled into our cabin quickly and easily, and went for our first fishing Saturday evening. I got the first hit - a "snake" Northern. Too small, too skinny - but more fun and bigger than anything I'd caught in the North River in WV!!! and that was about it for Saturday.
We went out every day, with only modest success. Andy caught enough to keep us fed, and I kept hauling in Northerns that were too big and yet too small. Except, of course, for the one that got away! I don't remember which day it was, but one day I did hook a big Northern. We nearly had him in the boat, but Andy felt the fish needed one more go 'round. So I obliged, and as I bought him back toward the net, he took off hook, line, & sinker. Yes, he broke the line and took off with the bait, the hook and the leader, and some amount of line. Of course, we know he was big enough to have been kept!!
The fishing was spotty the rest of the week, with one day of wind that blew us in with no strikes even! That night we ate steak! And one day of rain kept us in until late afternoon, when again Andy got dinner, and I caught 'toss-backs'.
On the last day, Friday, the weather took its time clearing, but we
got our fly-in trip to a small, secluded lake - where in three hours, we caught
our limit. Including my 'Monster' Walleye that measured about
26 inches. We never did weigh him. But Andy says this is the biggest
Walleye he remembers an Arnold catching!! It's in our freezer
awaiting a suitable occasion. And I'm already planning next year's
trip. Yes, I am most definitely hooked!!
