| Project Leader, Information Technology Applications Development |
1985-2003 |
Plan and schedule software development and maintenance projects.
Work with multiple levels of the user community to create functional specifications.

General Tasks
- Develop computer program designs and specifications.    Write the specifications so
that other team members can develop the program code.
- Analyze and identify problems.    Create solutions and implement them.
- Technical Lead for the team, guide other team members and help them set frameworks for their analysis and problem
solving.
- Plan and schedule software development projects.
- Report project status to management.
Specific Accomplishments
- Maintained and upgraded a document management system written in Delphi, using an Oracle
database.
- Converted a stock exchange application from Clipper to Delphi.    The application
helped the Corporate Secretary's staff manage
the exchange of stock certificates related to an acquisition.
- Pioneered the use of controlled compiling.
Designed and implemented procedures to manage the compile process.    This saved
hundreds of hours of re-compiling and re-testing by preventing the use of incorrect
parameters and improper libraries.
- Designed and implemented a COBOL report writer, which is a modular process that
produces multiple reports with a single pass of the input file.   Savings derived
from the fact that a new report can be added to the process without changing any existing
programs.
- Designed and implemented a SAS report writer including the conversion a large
hierarchical file (35+ million records) into a SAS database consisting of several smaller
sequential files.    This report writer reduced processing time for daily report
production because reports no longer processed unneeded records in the hierarchy.
- Initiated the use of segmented/concatenated parameter files.
Segmentation enabled re-use of portions of the parameter files.
Re-use saved several hours of programmer time because a change to one segment would
effect several jobs.

- Redeveloped the software in 2006. New version utilized Visual Basic .Net and Access database.
- Developed web pages and internet distribution mechanism.
